So, for now on I will be posting what the book says about how large or what size my baby should be…but we all know different! Add about 2 inches and 5 oz each week.
So at 21 weeks…the baby is still said to be about the size of a Banana
About this week the baby is swallowing amniotic fluid. So “moose or tank” (the new nickname for baby right now) gets a little taste of what I am eating. Yesterday it was Peeps!!
Macrosomia- I did some research on this because it seems likely that Moose is headed toward this diagnosis. In the US, Macrosomia is defined as having an infant at birth that weighs greater than 8lbs 6 oz. About 10% of the US population gives birth to a macrosomic baby. Hispanic women are more likely babies are most likely male. When practitioners see a macrosomic baby the first thought is gestational diabetes. Hence, I am being checked early for this. They also associate it with obese mothers, but I do not think I fit this category. Last but not least, genetics. Taller, larger parents produced bigger offspring…I am going for the latter!
