Week 17- a little late

Aloha from week 17. My week 17 took place in Hawaii. It was a great birthday week and valentines week! As for Cletus, it really liked pineapple juice, pineapple, well pretty much pineapple anything. It also really liked oreos and virgin lava flows, imagine that!!

At  week 17 baby is about 4 1/2 to 4 3/4 inches. In the last 2 weeks the weight has doubled, to a whopping 3.5 ounces. A good comparison is that the baby is the size of your hand spread wide open. Cletus is starting to make adipose tissue or fat now. Cletus's fingernails are well formed as well. This is also the time where you can do a Quad screen. Kris an I opted not to do so. It screens for downs syndrome and neural tube defects, but at this point it wouldn't change anything in the pregnancy so we opted not to. Besides, we are going to have another ultrasound here shortly.

I have really began to feel my uterus get bigger. Today my big plan is try on all my work pants and see which ones I can get away with a few more weeks or even days. The maternity wear in anchorage is not so hot, thank goodness i am making a trip to Seattle with my mom for perhaps a better selection of clothing. I have also began to have leg cramps at night (normal) and my round ligament pain after exercising is pretty bad. I can only run once or twice a week because I have to give those ligaments time to recover. No stretch marks yet, no linea negra, no mask of pregnancy. All and all doing well.  Here is an array of pictures from Kauai. It takes forever to load so you only get a sample. Most of you will be getting some prints in the mail or you can check out facebook.
Kris and I Kayaking the Wailua river. Yes, i had a paddle too, just set it down to get a picture

Once we made it up the river we then hiked to "secret falls" we swam under the waterfall for good luck

This was the longest of our hikes, 8 miles round trip. Worth it to see this beautiful waterfall

A well positioned sarong does great. Here is a windy self portrait on the beaches of Poipu

Random, rusted chair

We did some hiking that was truly in the jungle. We also didn't realize how bad the mosquitoes were. I don't have any pictures but by the end it looked like I had measles on my legs

Kris at Waimea canyon

More of Waimea canyon

Kauai really does have wild boar. Apparently they are super destructive to the vegetation and spread weeds. Thankfully we never saw one on our hikes

Polihale state park was the best beach we had ever been too.

At the end of the road at Polihale state park, the beginning of the NaPali coast line

Here is my 17 week photo

Week 16- a little early

So I am posting week 16 2 days early. I have a hectic schedule at work mon and tuesday and leave for Maui on Wednesday. Kris flies down Friday and then we will island hop on over to Kauai. I'm pretty stoked. However, this week my belly has finally decided to "grow" I thought that I would be able to get away with Bikini's in Hawaii (which i am still going to) but my belly has officially popped. Now the biggest dilemma i'm having is to scrub it and wear yoga pants on the  6 hour plane ride or be adult and wear jeans, but will probably have to unbotton the top. Oh the joys!

So here is stats on Cletus:
Cletus is about 4.3-4.6 inches and weighs approximately 2.77 ounces. There is about 250ml of amniotic fluid in my uterus. Mile stones for cleuts is that IT is beginning to grow hair. Fingernails are well formed and hearing is beginning to take place.

Starting this week i'm not suppose to lay on my back. I am trying to figure out how to enjoy the sun if i can't lay on my back and can't lay on my belly.

So here it is, first official posting of the baby bump.

Cletus is so lucky to have a handy father. We are making good progress on the nursery. It looks blue here but is more of a gray. It if is a girl we will accent with pink or purples and if it's a boy bright blues (i think kris picked this color so we can easily make it into a dallas cowboys room)

Well I hope all is well. Won't post while we are in Hawaii but think of us fondly!

check up

Hello all. Just a quick note. I had another OB check up today. I am not thrilled with the place thus far. No anticipatory guidance or "in the next month you should prepare for..."

But I did get to hear baby heart tones again, beating strong at 150. Next visit will be March 16th, with the 20 week ultrasound. So place your bets now....Boy or Girl....or maybe we won't tell you.

Week 15

This week marks the beginning of week 15. Size of an apple and can be as long as 4 inches (though i'm pretty sure cletus isn't that big yet). Weight about 2.5 ounces. This week is a big week for nerves....connections starting form in the spinal canal and brain. This week, baby has wanted steak and circus peanuts. I'm not sure if you would call these cravings, more like impulses, Kris should not send me to the grocery store. Some other interesting fun facts...I'm stuffy, and it's due to increased estrogen in my system that swells the goblet cells (the mucus producers) in my nose. My bloating has been better this week! Sorry folks if this is TMI for you, but that has so far been the worst thing about pregnancy is just bloating!
Other facts:
1. Signed Kris and I up for birthing classes for June
2. Tried on Summer clothes for Hawaii....had to go buy new summer clothes and now have a box labeled...."things I can't fit into thanks to Cletus" lets start the blame game early
3. I leave for Hawaii in 1 week!!!
4. OB check up on Friday. I will keep you posted. I think this visit is pretty low Key, doppler fetal heart tones, check BP and weight. Do you know I am suppose to gain a pound a week!! If that is so I am going to weight 180lbs!! HOLY SMOKES. Breast feeding better work.
5. 5 more weeks until next ultrasound

Kris and I watching the superbowl party. He had to wear the dunce cap because the Patriots scored
Making progress. Carpet and molding ripped up.

Week 14

This was a fun surprise. We were sitting on the couch and then all of a sudden WHAM! Crash!! The glass just blew out of the fireplace...hot glass  went all over our BRAND NEW RUG we bought. Not too bad, didn't ruin it. Just needed a little trim. I have no idea how we are going to fix this. Just add another project to the list.
Cletus is4-4.5 inches and weighs 1.75 ounces. It's close to the size of a softball.

So far this week has been a normal week. I had my first real baby dream last night. I had a dream that I had a little boy, and we named him Alexander. For some reason, baby was at the hospital and we were all that the house and we all needed to shower. Everyone was asking me how labor was and I couldn't remember anything about giving birth. I guess it would be pretty awesome if it goes smooth I have no memory of pain.

I can feel my uterus now. It's about 4 inches below my navel. I feel like it is off to the right. Still trying to put off buying maternity clothes. I can make it two more weeks!!

hard work, fabric softner, and nails. We have demolished the  fish wall paper!

Other random Anchorage stuff. We are now having a heat wave. It went from -16 to 36 with wet snow.

Chopped the hair off!
