Hawaii

Aloha. This is the Hawaii blog. We recently went to Oahu to celebrate Kris's 30th birthday. It was sort of last minute (within a month) and i had to do some cajoling to get Kris to take 4 days of vacation (he is so stingy) by telling him he didn't want to be depressed celebrating his 30th in the snow and cold. Instead we had cake for breakfast as we watched to waves crash on the beach. Pretty good to me.

So we had a great trip. Bronson was great on the way down, slept for 1 hour of the 6 hour flight but wasn't too squirmy and didn't have a blow out! We had a one bedroom condo and a pack-n-play. It was a 2 hour time difference for bronson so he was up at 5-6 am every day. We went to bed pretty early the whole time we were there. Life changes with a kiddo. No late night pog juice cocktails....bed by 8pm please!

We did several hikes in the new backpack. I had actually purchased this a year ago when bronson was in my belly in anticipation of fun times like these, It worked great. Kris did most of the heavy lifting, a 5 miler being the longest. We spent time on the beach and kris and I even finished a book...i feel like that is a monumentous accomplishment. We bought a little beach tent for bronson to nap in and it worked pretty good. That and SPF 50 sunscreen Bronson did not get sunburned, unlike his mother.

One of the coolest things was that we got to see some cousins that were over there visiting as well. Cousin Katie from Charleston (my dads sister kid) and cousin adam from idaho (my moms brother kid).

Bronson had fun celebrating easter- he really enjoyed the plastic easter eggs and kris had a great 30th. He got presents, sushi, cake, and sunshine. Just an FYI, we are planning on repeating this for my 30th next year and the more the merrier

Here is uncle Todd with Bronson

The first night, the Minks put us up. It was great to see Kay and Todd. Aunt Charlie drove down with Karole and Kay so Bronson got to see a lot of relatives which was great. It was also nice that they were there because Kris and I were able to take advantage. We had a wine tour of Napa Valley. It was great. We were on this limo tour, and no one else showed up so it was just Kris and I. Very romantic. Thank you grandma and grandpa for watching Bronson!! Then we went back to San Fran. I spent the next, three beautiful, sunny days inside at my cardiology conference and Kris and his parents were able to explore. We then came back and I immediately got sick and that is where we are today!!

Fur Rondy

We have had a very fun week. This week Bronson had swim lessons and it was Fur Rondy in Anchorage which is the start of the Ididarod Dog Sled Races. It kicks off with a foot race, costume of course, which I convinced Kris to participate because it was also my birthday. However, don't let kris fool you, he loves to be in costume. So we participated in the race, watched the parade, had my favorite meal of AHI tuna, looked at snow sculptures and hung out with friends.

We are looking forward to next weekend, which will be snowmachining with friends and then the following weekend we will get to see Grandma and Grandpa Honas in San Fransisco.

Happy Valentines from Bronson

6 months

Well finally a new post. I have been trying to post for over 5 days but we have had severe internet issues. I realize how dependent I have become on the internet when i get angry that it goes slow or doesn't work. So since our last post Bronson had his 6 month appointment! He is still measuring in the 90th percentile in all areas; 98 for weight at 21 15oz (should have fed an extra 2 minutes to push him to 22), and 29 inches which makes him over the 99th percentile for height. He again got his standard immunizations and I added the flu shot for him. I anticipated him being quite the crank the next day but he was a champ and was one of the happiest I had seen him. We had plans on staying in our PJ's all day...which we did but he went through 4 pair!

The aspect that we have the most concern over is his swallow. He still will gag himself and puke everytime we put a spoon in his mouth. The pediatrician said to give it 2 weeks and try again. It will be 2 weeks on monday. He needs to start eating because he has also decided to up his milk consumption to 8oz every three hours and I do NOT make that much. So say a prayer that he starts to eat his rice cereal next week. Otherwise we may have to go to a speech pathologist to see what his issue is.

It was an uneventful weekend. I had a conference on friday and saturday so kris got to babysit. I hope he used his time wisely ( used it to buy me a valentines gift). I am horrible at gifts, meaning that I can't ever wait to give them to a person once I bought them so Kris got his gift this weekend. He got a new robe and Ugg slippers so he can feel comfy.

Bronson had his first swim lessons on Monday. I call them lessons very lightly. Essentially you are just in the pool with him. For the first time, Bronson did not like someone though. I handed him to our instructor who was a 20ish, dark stubble guy and bronson wailed!! He managed to recover and we did a lot of back floating, kicking and underwater excursions.

This weekend should be a boring weekend. The following week will be busy because Kris is going to the slope, Fur rondy starts, and it's my BIRTHDAY!!!

I don't have swim trunks for him yet

I am so happy to be 6 months old

Superbowl

Well it's been a boring January. We are working and Bronson is playing. A typical day. We did have a superbowl party on Sunday and were able to dress bronson up in his Dallas gear that Nana bought him when she was in Dallas and of course mustaches!! We had fun with about 10 people over. We were routing for the 49'ers, staying loyal to the West Coast but that didn't go so well. Next year Dallas will be in the playoffs!

Bronson has had this darn cold for going on three weeks now. I think the post nasal drip has tainted his taste buds because he currently has no interest in solid foods. He actually gags himself then vomits no matter what we put in his mouth with a spoon. I keep trying but think I am scarring him! I will wait until he isn't eating so much snot.

We are looking forward to San Fran in March. We will get to see Ken and Karole along with Kris's Aunt and Uncle. We plan on making a trip up to wine country, running across the golden gate bridge, and playing around Pier 39. I wont get to play as much as Kris because I have a conference on Sat, Sun, and Mon.

Good news! Stephanie and Zak had their baby. Bronson now has a boy cousin to play with, Westyn James. He was 8lb 8oz. I think stephanie weighs like 96lbs so that is a big baby for her. We are excited to meet him and for Bronson to play trucks with his new cousin.

Next post will be Bronson's stats from his 6 month appointment! (he is 6 months today!!) Time flies.

Is he still looking like kris?

My cutie

Enjoying the superbowl festivities

I love my Baby Bronson

We got him a cool track suit with cool adidas Kicks.

Can they all look like Tom sellick please?

Does it suit him?

Vegetables

Happy Mid January!! There is not a lot going on in the Honas household, hence why posts are so far in between. This last weekend we watched a lot of football. We were bummed that Seattle lost, so now we are routing for the 49ers. West Coast represent!!

We have been trying new items with Bronson to eat. So far he has had cereal, which was ok to him. He then had bananas, which he really liked. This week we tried zucchini. This was A NO GO. Literally you would give him one bite and he would vomit it right up, along with some nice curdled milk. So at first, I thought that he was still sick and had some post nasal drip and it was just a tickle and coincidence. I am now certain, however, it was not coincidence, it was not because he was sick, he simply does not like zucchini. So I will end up putting all that extra puree I made onto a sandwich for Kris. Seeing that he never reads this blog I know I am safe!

We also bought Kris a Johnny jump up. It was fun to put him in it. He didn't quite get it yet. It did spin him around and he thought that was great. He is getting stronger every day. He can sit up on his own now for a few seconds. He doesn't usually tip to his side but slowly slowly ends up tipping forward until his head is resting on his knees.

The last week he has been waking up at midnight, which is totally off for him. I keep thinking that a tooth will pop out so I can justify him getting up at midnight. Nothing yet.

Upcoming events: Superbowl party and San Fransisco
